Deck Review:The lost Tarot of Nostradamus
I have recently stumbled upon this deck- The Lost Tarot of Nostradamus published by Tuttle. It was like dirt cheap on amazon and i kind of jumped in and ordered. Because as we know our thirst for new decks sometimes burns a whole in our purses. Honestly, i never thought this will be so much of a package. I mean its a bigger box than the usual. And, to my surprise it came with an actual book(not a regular LWB) by John Matthews and Will Kingham.
The book is of 160 pages and such a beautiful description! Thorough and deep. In the box there are two dents for two halves of the deck. Its a very unusual deck i would say. The images are copied and vectored from the original images drawn by Nostradamus. The four suits are also differently named.
The Sun, Moon, Star and Globe (wands, cups, swords and pentacles). The court card names are different as well. Its a bit hard for a first timer to remember and connect with the images and depictions. So one might have to constantly follow the book while reading. Interestingly, these each cards are associated with a quarantine by Nostradamus. Which makes these cards way more mystic i guess. Its definitely not for a beginner, in fact a hard nut for even pro's. The card stock is decent but no lamination. And all the cards have an obnoxious border(aghh). Shuffling is a bit difficult for the size but i think this may need some more acquaintance. Anyway im looking forward for the story behind this deck and the man Michel Nostradamus himself. The pictures on the cards were drawn more than 500 years before. There is an unsual sense of mysticism involved. And Watching the documentaries and reading the booklet, even i have come to think that why these pictures came out so late?Is this too was prophesied by the seer?Though Nostradamus had no intentions of him being called as a prophet or seer, but he was carrying the messages of the creater.
This explanation makes the cards even more alive and intutive. Over all, these cards are far apart from any of the decks i had so far. Definitely something extra is there. If you're planning to get this deck make sure to watch the deck reviews on YouTube and the documentary on The Lost Book of Nostradamus.
